Young Musicians Join Campaign to Rid the World of Plastic Charge Cards

Emerging British musicians are being invited to showcase their work on a new payments app that aims to rid the world of plastic charge cards.

Introducing singer-songwriter Nadine Williams

The first artist to take part will be hotly-tipped Nadine Williams, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Southampton, whose debut track 'All I Ask' was released in February this year. As part of the collaboration a 30-second preview of Nadine’s follow up single ‘Round and Round’ is being promoted inside the ImageNPay app from May 4th with the full track being released on the 10th of May across all streaming platforms.

Nadine, who is currently studying international business and marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University, has already built up a substantial following on social media - and says she's delighted to back the app's anti-plastic stance.

ImageNPay - the virtual card reducing plastic waste

ImageNPay allows users to customise a digital charge card with moving images and sound, which are stored on a smartphone. It can then be used as a normal payment card, but without the need for a plastic version.

Users will be able to listen to a preview of Nadine's hotly-anticipated R&B track within the ImageNPay app, which will soon enable users to make contactless payments with the album art from Round and Round.

Supporting the Plastics Oceans charity

The singer-songwriter has chosen Plastic Oceans, a non-profit organisation that aims to reduce the impact of plastic on marine environments, to be the recipient of any donations made.

Nadine said: "It's difficult for young artists to successfully reach a new audience, so it feels amazing to be the first performer to feature on ImageNPay. As a singer / songwriter, I just try and express how I feel and I'm inspired if my music resonates positively.

"I’ve always been a water baby and I've scuba dived in the past and often seen the damage that our neglect inflicts on the environment. When I was given the opportunity to work with the app, I felt our interests were aligned on more than just music."

The ImageNPay platform is the brainchild of Michael Donald, a former Chief Commercial Officer of MBNA, who has over 25 years of experience in the payments and banking sectors.

Michael said: "We're delighted to be supporting young British artists who back our stance on the environment. We all pay for goods and services, so why not make it fun and collaborative, whilst also being kind to the environment?

"There are more than 22 billion plastic payment cards in circulation worldwide, which are typically issued in three-year cycles and most cannot be recycled. The planet's oceans are awash with micro-plastics, but together we can work towards reducing further contamination."
